Fluency and Stuttering
At Speech Banannie Services, we provide compassionate and individualized therapy to support children who stutter or experience disruptions in speech fluency. Our goal is to help children and adults speak more easily and confidently while also fostering positive communication experiences.
Fluency disorders may include repetitions, prolongations, or blocks in speech. We address these challenges using evidence-based approaches tailored to each individual’s needs, age, and communication environment. Our therapy may include:
Stuttering modification strategies to reduce physical tension and manage moments of stuttering more comfortably (e.g., cancellations, pull-outs, preparatory sets)
Fluency shaping techniques to promote smoother speech through strategies like slowed rate, gentle onsets, and easy phrasing
Desensitization and self-advocacy work to reduce communication anxiety and build confidence
Parent coaching and classroom collaboration to support carryover in real-life settings
Therapy also includes a focus on pragmatic fluency, helping children learn when and how to use their strategies effectively in conversation. Whether a child is just beginning to stutter or has been managing disfluencies for years, we create a supportive, strengths-based plan that meets them where they are.
